STERN

So I was chatting to a work colleague the other day, and our conversation turned to some of our other workmates (surprise, surprise) and I mentioned that a particular person was giving me attitood. My workmate said that it might have something to do with me being "stern" on occasion.

Um, ME? Stern???

Their comment sort of took me by surprise, but after thinking about it I realised that I MIGHT come across as a bit bossy at work. However, I'd like to use the terms "no-nonsense" or "focussed" ;)

My dear Sister said she could see me being "stern" at work and that I probably inherited that trait from Dad.

*sigh* I will try to laugh a bit more at work...

No - you should be more aggro. The way I see it, they aren't used to Chinese acting that way to people. So you should always put them out of their comfort zone - it's like people getting all resentful when a woman stands up for herself and acts strong, because nice girls ain't supposed to be like that. So don't act nicer - act more abusive. Viva la revolucion!!

What?

Andy Andy,
so if you remember back to AFTRS, did I not give you the nic name 'my gentle friend'??

However, all that said .... its not toally out of the realm why someone might take you as 'bossy' or whatever those stupid words were.

I say that, because you have such a gentle nature, that I think people can over react to you when you do have a strong opinion. However in my limited knowledge, you only have strong opinions cause you are right and idiots you have been working with cant see you are right, OR .. I think perhaps this is the key .... they are not used to you being assertive ... and as such are so surprised that they think giving in to you is some weird weakness or something ... I dont know, but regardless.... fuck them all Andy ... you are definately not an overly assertive or bossy person, you are mostly totally agreeable. When you are not, its most likely for a very good reason.

Ok, so I got to go ... but 2 little comments from skimming your blogg.....

Its spelt 'beotch' .. trust me, its become so common place in American media ... BEOTCH (thats referring to whatever term you used as slang for bitch)

And lastly, you wanna buy DVD's ..... Amoeba music in San Fran!!! OH my god!!!! Literally millions of DVD's and CD's ..... and more than half of them are only $1!!! ITs tough, if I go there ..... I have to go without Steph, and be prepared to spend at least 3 hours there..... if I know I cant spend that time .... I dont even browse.

be well, my gentle friend

hello Monty! what a lovely surprise visit...

yes, i was and will always be your "gentle friend" :)

the person at work who seems to have iss-ewes with me is a bit older than me, but i'm their senior. i think that's the crux of the problem.....i actually think it's not my problem but theirs. yeah!

thanks for the "beotch" tip....and since my last rant about JB Hi-Fi, i haven't bought anything! must rectify that soon.....
